Many of us experience fear about writing a memoir, no matter what topics we might be including in our story. But for writers who are highly sensitive and intuitive, the writing process can present its own unique set of challenges and become even more difficult.
With intuitive memoir writing, we use our intuition and emotion to guide us through the memoir writing process. Instead of trying to plan out everything ahead of time and rigidly follow preconceived writing “rules,” we let ourselves flow with the experience of connecting with our past and bringing it into the present to be recorded on the page.
Intuitive writing gives us permission to be messy as we make our way through writing our memoir, and it gives us a way to guide ourselves through every block we come up against. It also helps us understand our memoir in the context of our overall healing journey.
In this workshop we will be learning:
How to use intuitive writing to complete a first draft of our memoir
How to identify the major themes of our memoir
How to know if we’re writing memoir or autobiographical fiction
How to work with difficult material and memories
What to expect from the memoir-writing process
How to talk about our memoir with other people
