How to Conquer a Lack of Writing Motivation

Lack of writing motivation is one of the biggest silent killers of creativity. I say “silent” because so many writers don’t talk about this issue, and that’s because a lot of us feel deep shame when we can’t get motivated. It’s very common for writers to suffer from this problem and blame themselves, and it’s hard to reach out for help or find support when you’re in a shame spiral about a lack of motivation.

When most of us experience lack of motivation, we usually assume that we’re being “lazy.” Or that we’re not that creative and that inspiration is something we might never see again. However, this is absolutely not true. Lack of motivation is something we can rarely control, and without outside support, it can feel impossible to move past.

When you have a lack of writing motivation you might feel a strong resistance to sticking it through with one writing project. You might also experience fear around choosing one idea or committing to one project, and when you do choose a project, you find that your inspiration fizzles out fast.

This happens because writers are blocked by emotional issues. I talk more about this in the video below:

I’m teaching a new class this spring called Mastering Motivation for Intuitive Writers and we’re going to be working together to tackle these kinds of emotional issues that block writers. This will be an intense 4-week program that provides support for intuitive writers in a safe space, so we can set goals, find our direction, and start working toward those goals.

If this is sounds like something you need to help you make progress with your writing, stay tuned for the next video in the series: Are You Self-Sabotaging Your Writing Goals? My classes for intuitive writers are always a lot of fun, and this one has the potential to move writers forward in a big way. I hope you decide to join us!
